Playing in a professional orchestra places special demands on string players. While soloist's qualities are expected in auditions, another kind of quality is needed for playing in the tutti section of a large orchestra. We would therefore like to offer dedicated musicians the opportunity to learn from internationally renowned musicians and successful soloists of prestigious orchestras through participation in this course, and to profit from their artistic and professional knowledge.
This master class offers participants the chance to prepare intensively and optimally for upcoming auditions. The diversity of contact with other course participants and instructors creates an ideal atmosphere for intense work, making advancements on one's instrument and making ensemble music.
This course focuses on key aspects of auditions for the 1st tutti by combining the study of the usual audition repertoire with honing the special skills necessary for playing in an ensemble.
Not only will work be done on the most common audition excerpts, but audition situations will also be simulated in front of the instructor and other participants, in order to provide audition experience and help combat nervousness and excitement.
After the completion of this masterclass, the participants will be able to play selected orchestral excerpts of various stylistic periods with a high degree of technical and interpretive skill. The course allows the participants the security to master auditioning through public performance and to apply their skills in relevant situations.
- Two days of masterclasses
- Each participant may work on up to 3 selected excerpts with the instructors
- Group seminar event - the attendance of all participants is desired
- Simulated audition for all participants with feedback from instructor and other participants
We welcome and invite advanced university students but also professional players to be active participants or auditors. Active participants receive lessons using literature selected by the instructors.
