A new instrument needs a short period to settle-in and to open. This circumstance scares many musicians aways to buy a new instrument. When new strings are attached for the first time, the instrument is introduced to completely different forces and tensions in comparison to the time when the instrument was made. The pressure of the strings is now additionally pushing on the instrument to which it has to adjust for at least 14 days. Only after this adjustment period are the new forces and tensions stabilized. Our instruments are optimized to have the easiest response and the best sound quality on all strings to ensure the musician to be able to form his/her personal instrument to his own personal and individual playing style.
Please remove the rosin residue after every use of your STREICHWERK instrument from the strings as well as from the varnish with a soft towel. Please use common maintenance products sparingly. Don’t expose your instrument to direct sunlight – high temperatures can damage the varnish. During the winter don’t leave your instrument near the radiator and avoid extremely low humidity. The ideal humidity levels are between 50-60%. During low humidity periods please maintenance your pegs with pegsoap.
